For Windmill Theatre Queens Theatre, Adelaide March 5-12, 2023 Windmill Theatre provide another twisty reimagining of a popular childrenās story or fairytale. I remember seeing their triple bill back in 2014 for the Adelaide Festival with the outstanding āFugitiveā (Robin Hood), āGirl Asleepā (very loosely Sleeping Beauty) and āSchool Danceā - more so a hilariously nostalgic look back on the formal (prom) and being a geek in the 80s. (A coming of age tale thatās a little John Hughes-esque). Iāve not seen their versions of Rumpelstiltskin and The Wizard of Oz, but I hear they were also memorable performances.

Please note: this review contains some spoilers, as well as references to mental health issues, self harm etc. ~ This emotionally manipulative and derivative slice of familial disharmony and mental illness must be one of the worse films Iāve seen in two years. āThe Sonā chronicles teenager Nicholas (Zen McGrath) who battles with depression as he decides to move to his fatherās apartment in NYC (his parents are separated) as he fears he needs a change and is too much for his mother Kate (Laura Dern). His father Peter (Hugh Jackman) now lives with his new wife Beth (Vanessa Kirby) with whom he has had a newborn.
I have always seemed to live my life inextricably through the movies rather than any other tangible force, so a movie melodic milestone playlist of songs or musical moments from film seemed most appropriate to me for the recent challenge. I guess the music takes me back to those innocent times of yesteryear, but are also highly comforting to listen to (or watch the movies theyāre from) NOW in the present. If I could, this list would be of about 30 songs from the movies. As it is - this small list are just some of those that were most memorable to me growing up and probably for some of you too!
