Where's Peace, Love and Happiness
Peace, man. Make love not war. Flower Power. Give peace a chance. Flower child. I am betting some of you will remember these sayings and more of you will not. These were language idioms spoken in the late sixties and early seventies. The gripe back then was about the Vietnam war and culture in general. Huge swaths of young people protesting their parents way of life and ideals. They were peace loving and passive. They wanted to get along with everyone and wanted everyone to get along. No longer.

Figured It Out Yet?
Ah, the modernized, progressing world. We have become more intelligent, have more than any other generation ever dreamed, and yet we are found lacking. About fifty percent of Americans, have some kind of college degree, or higher than secondary level educations. While more and more graduates flood the market, wage suppression has increased. In numbers terms, with a ten percent increase in educated workers, the wages drop six percent. Why you ask, let’s unpack one reason.

Beloved
Flowers cascade down the aisles of a quiet church, the pews filled with friends and loves ones. At the alter stand the largest of the arrangements, fragrant flowers wafting their perfume, through the chapel, certain to create and evoke scent memories in future recollections of this day. The parishioners file in and will soon file out, with whispers of, “It was a beautiful service,” “The flowers were so lovely,” and “I’m sorry for their loss. His passing was long in coming, but so sudden.”

Regression
Did I miss something? Did we just go back to pre 1964, while I was not looking? We desegregated, right? We have been working tirelessly throughout the decades to make sure we stop classifying and labeling people with insensitive nicknames. We removed words that were crassly used, from polite society, right? So, why the heck are some states reverting to racial insensitivity? The most disturbing are the states that have started the charge of regression.

Wave and Smile Boys, Wave and Smile
Flashing lights, flicker all around. “Over here” “Over here””Can we have a moment?” “Can I get a picture with you?’ You’ve made it. You’re famous. A celebrity at the top of the heap. It’s what you worked for, starved for, sold your entire being and soul for. So why the long face?

Unscented Life
Don’t give or send me roses. The sentiment was always in the sweetness of their smell, alluding to love’s sweetness. No longer. They are a dead cut flower, destined for wilting and discarding in the trash, never to be thought of again. The hard work of the most beautiful of natures treasures has been reduced to a symbolic vision alone. Is a rose once its essence is gone?

Time
Ugh, that time of year again. Twice a year I dread these tow days. It creates upheaval and my body, as I get older, doesn’t approve. I don’t even know we are forced to hold on to something created during war time for wartime. Like any other government unposed tax, entitlement, or rule of law, once created and implemented, it’s a done deal. We are stuck with its misery. I’d rather they add a couple hours to everyday, so I can get everything I do, done, without pressure.

Do I Have To?
Tuesday was a “national” day of celebration, but not all were in celebratory mode. While our nation and other nations were partying and engorging themselves on corned beef, potatoes, cabbage and an over abundance of beer, one person was grieving and going down a rabbit hole of sadness, over the death of a parent.

Enslaved
You can’t run. You can’t hide. You can’t win. You can’t live without me. You can’t be free of me. I own you. We own you. What do we think about that? Hard pass right? No matter whatever ‘that’ is, it’s a no go. I agree, yet every one of us is a slave. We are bought and sold by an entity, that has managed to have something we all need. They dangle it over our heads, but you never actually get the reward. They do. All of it.

Dumpster Fire
Everything is ruined. There is no way to fix it. What am I going to do? This is so unfair! Life is full of surprises, and some are not welcome ones. In fact, life tends to test you to the very ends of your nerves and emotions. There is no way to avoid it or the tragedies that spring up, but they can be weathered, if you sit back and take a breather.
