old hat

a poem

I had to go around

to find you again

sittin’ there

all the time

in the same spot

covered with blinds from someone else’s holes

of incompetency

studyin’

all the intricacies

of life around

I caught you off guard

crackin’ codes

fittin’ the boats

GPS coordinates

dependin’ on

their positions offshore

one smart cookie on the dough

makin’ a career out of this

careerin’ of old hats

how does it make you feel

when you had hair once

in all colours, now gone

into sneaky mode?

certainly, more than any words

can contain now

learned

on previous mistakes
