Im a drunk steel worker from Wisconsin that enjoys writing. Currently working on my first novel and doing some short stories in the mean time.

Where it Started
I remember sitting at a small round table, just enough room to fit a family of four around, it was a tan color. It was bright and noisy, and the table was mine tonight, with piles of markers and papers everywhere. My parents were in the kitchen, and although I do not remember where my sister was, I always imagine her sitting across from. I was young yet, maybe six, it couldn’t have been more than that with both my parents in the house.

The dark sky above me, painted by a billion stars, is the only solid right now as streetlights and pavement whip by. My foot, covered in a black shoe made of canvas and rubber, has been planted down into the throttle for as long as I can remember. This moment is a lifetime in my mind, I do not know how fast I am going, but I can hear the engine humming loud, the exhaust no longer cracks as I have ran out of gears.

Judgment
Something is wrong here. I am not familiar with this place. Its dark… and wet. My fingernails scrape cruddy damp filth off the long boards I sit upon, I am leaned up against something, a tall round pole of old lumber. There are numbers and names cut into the pole, all the way up it, at least as high as my vision permits me to see in the low light. The floor under me sways back and forth a bit, causing my vision to spin as I lose my balance, pressing my body back into the poll for a moment before raising my eyes to look at the grime encrusted rails and stairs, the long deck that stretches for hundreds of feet in every direction.

Steam danced around the surface of the hot dark liquid residing in Igor's mug. He had placed it upon the heavy wooden table in the center of the room a moment early to let it cool while he stared out through a pair of binoculars, across the cold rocky landscape around him. The large man sat in the top floor of an old tower nearly seventy feet in the air, but he still felt uneasy every time he peered outside.

Obey
I put a hand on my face and rub hard against my eyes before rolling halfway over and slapping at the buzzing plastic box perched upon the cheap wooden nightstand beside me. It feels as if sleep took me only hours ago, plunging my mind into a hurricane of brightly colored dreams. The pile of dark blankets and sheets pull off hard as they catch on feet, producing a curse and a thrash followed by a loud grunt as muscles tense and I find myself upright looking out a single small window into the street outside.

My Room . Top Story - March 2026.
The desk is old but it feels new, covered in that shiny, smooth, new layer that brings furniture back to life. The lights are dim, but from some obscure place out of my vision a candle burns bright, casting its flickering warmth over the desk in front of me. I can hear the rain, pitter and patter against the small windows placed deep into the walls around me.

Seawater, that black all-consuming giant, it can consume a thousand feet of ship as easily as a man in these parts. Crushing waves that wash the filth and loose cargo from dirty decks just to regurgitate it on some far off shore for some poor farmer to find and think they’re going to be rich.
