When you read my words they may not be perfect but I hope they:
1. Engage you
2. Entertain you
3. At least make you smile (Omar's Diaries) or
4. Think about this crazy world we live in and
5. Never accept anything at face value

A desperate plea from the elves
They are the invisible workers. They are the unheard of workers. They are the workers who toil night and day above the Arctic Circle who work for Santa making toys for children all over the world for that one special day of the year.

£842,000 - give or take a few hundred quid
It did not take long for the merciless and “take no prisoners” style of media inquisition to put Angela Rayner into the shadows of public life. It has taken even less time for the same style of journalism to focus on another high profile Member of Parliament.

There is always time for a good cigar and a glass of brandy
When we checked into “The Olde Bell” at Hurley we were given our allocated room number, told it was an upgrade to “The Old Malt House” and that Winston Churchill had stayed in the building during World War II. We were also invited to the Halloween events in the main building later that evening.

If only people knew St George's backstory
The words that follow may make me feel like I am whistling into a force ten hooley coming off of the English Channel. What I have seen on the news and have been bombarded with on social media feeds lately is coverage of demonstrations outside hotels here in England. These are hotels that are providing accommodation for people who have entered our country through improper channels. Please note that I have not used the words “immigrant” or “immigrants”. I find both of them totally dehumanising and capable of obliterating any respect for the individuals concerned let alone taking any account of their individual back stories. As for the use of "illegal" that is an issue to be decided through the due process of law.

Looking a lot better after it's 60th anniversary
Through the merciless lens of time when looking back on childhood memories the sun shone brighter, the skies were bluer, greenery was greener and a memorial hewn from seven tons of Portland stone looked freshly carved and pristine.

Pride & Joy at The Cuckoo Inn
“Pride & Joy” events are held across the south of Hampshire during the summer months and are unique. They bring together anyone who owns any form of transport regardless of the number of wheels or methods of propulsion. It does not matter what it is just so long as it is the pride and joy of its owners and they want others to enjoy them.

Self Publishing on Amazon KDP
For far too long I have been putting off getting my act together and self-publishing a book of any sort. There were great plans and a lot of effort put into to drafting a compilation of travel articles. They were put together, proofed and all fifty thousand words were ready for publication but something put me off The individual pieces were fine but with word counts varying between four hundred and two thousand there was something untidy about how they would look to a reader. The project at that stage was warehoused.
