Summer
The tourist
return
To enjoy our town.
******
Traffic
Becomes nuts
Crazy
One lane extends miles.
******
Culture
Shows in clothes
shows in language
Shows in integrity.
******
Locals
People watch
Disturbed
Distracted from nature.
******
Kids
Laugh & play
skip stones
Turn bright red in the sun.
******
Teens
trot and prance
Flirt
On their way to jump off the pier.
******
Adults
Sit together
Silently
In the moment together.
******
Parents
show the kids to
Hunt
for the Petoskey Stone.
******
Old biddies
Chris and I
Judgmental
"for Pete's sake cove that up!"
******
Me
Old fool
Responsible
For I suggested the activity.
******
Us
Shared memories
Bonding
Accepting we are the Elders.
******
Nature
Be still
Listen
admire my sunset.
*****
We
Remain silent
Comfortable
Just sitting and watching.
******
Me
Deep breath
Peaceful
As you wish My Lady.
