balancin’ the imbalance

livin’ a physical life

my mind is always tryin’

to find beauty in belongin’

comfort in cherishin’

every little thing

consolation in sickness

when I don’t want to eat

when all day looks wrong

comfortable in no sounds

or too many of them

in one place

I have to differentiate

between each of them

findin’ serene soothin’ sentiments

like in a salt mine I once visited

everythin’ was in place

even though it wasn’t

and that was all the beauty of it

obscured

underground

where your eyes

had to adjust

to the darkness spreadin’

like the tentacles

of an octopus

when we swim

in this brine –

salt-induced water –

the best medicine

for an imbalance

of all our inner insecurities

inscribed in our lives

with bitter icin’

on the cake

as if they were

innate

even though we were all born without them
