The glass of Absinthe sat before me. Itβs quite amazing how despite such terror rendered upon their stones in the preceding decades, these streets still held the beauty I first read about as a girl. I never dreamed Iβd set foot on these cobbles, at least not safely.

Excellent Haiku Sara and congratulations on your win
I honestly went, "Wow!" when I read this. That might sound trite, but I was seriously in awe. I read it twice more and just marveled. I entered a couple haikus in this challenge and they sucked. (Being honest.) Mine were just too matter-of-fact. It's incredible how easy haikus can seem... until you see someone else take one to a whole new level... and you realize it was way more difficult that you ever dreamed because you are faced with a master. Just SO much in so few words!!! Evocative as hell. Powerful. I could write comments that would (will) last ten times as long as this poem. Really glad to see you won with this, Sara. I hope you partied hardy! β‘πBillβ‘
