The first time, I thought it was grief playing tricks,

A voice shaped from longing, nothing more,

But then the room shifted, the air tightened,

And I heard you, clear, like you never left.

You said my name the way only you ever did,

Soft, certain, as if death had no authority,

I turned, expecting absence, like every other day,

But something stayed, something refused to leave.

The lights flicker when I speak of you aloud,

As if the world itself cannot hold the truth steady,

And I sit in that dim, breathing silence,

Waiting for you to cross that thin line again.

You tell me things no one else could know,

Little memories folded away in quiet corners,

The way you laughed that night in the rain,

The promise we made and never finished.

Are you trapped between here and whatever comes next,

Or do you choose to return, to stand beside me unseen,

Is love strong enough to bend death backwards,

Or am I losing myself, piece by piece, to you.

I answer you now without fear, without doubt,

Because silence hurts more than the unknown,

If you are there, if you are reaching through,

Then speak again, I am still yours to hear it.

And if this is madness, then let it take me gently,

Let it sound like your voice, let it feel like home,

Because a world without you is already empty,

And I would rather be haunted than alone.
