Everything Moves
A poem about hesitation, time, and the courage to move first.

Today is March Forth and Do Something Day.
A day when we say 'Carpe Diem' and seize the chance to make progress.
So let's.
When one person steps forward, the world begins again.
β° πͺ π βοΈ π£ βοΈ π°οΈ
The clocks stop,
All at twelve.
A kettle that whistles.
Incessantly.
He waits silently at the door.Β
β° πͺ π βοΈ π£ βοΈ π°οΈ
A student freezes, his notes unread.
A still man, the receiver hanging
From his hand.Β
People at the bus stop.
A bus comes, but no one boards.
β° πͺ π βοΈ π£ βοΈ π°οΈ
It circles streets -
Back to the stop.
House doors open -
To the day before.Β
The sun hangs.
β° πͺ π βοΈ π£ βοΈ π°οΈ
Unmoving.Β
β° πͺ π βοΈ π£ βοΈ π°οΈ
And won't set.
Till someone moves
And seizes the moment.
β° πͺ π βοΈ π£ βοΈ π°οΈ
So I step
Out the door
Into a world
Delayed.
β° πͺ π βοΈ π£ βοΈ π°οΈ
To the sound of ticktocks.
The slow, but sure
Movement of
A bus.
The sun slowly
Climbing.Β
β° πͺ π βοΈ π£ βοΈ π°οΈ
Everything moves.
But we have to first.Β
