Borrowed Face

the scariest man

By Tina D. LopezPublished 25 days ago 1 min read

The scariest man smiles wide,

his voice silk over cold stone.

“I love you,” he whispers,

and you lean in, unaware

that trust is a candle he’s about to snuff.

Behind your back

he spits fire into quiet corners,

builds betrayal in texts and shadows,

smiling while gutting what you thought sacred.

The knife is his grin,

curved and familiar,

hiding behind the mask

that wears your heart like a borrowed face.

So true, and the man who show love with action are the ones to be trusted.
