Live Streamer Takes The Life Of His Pregnant Girlfriend On Camera For Donations

He was egged on by his sadistic viewers...

Stanislav Reshetnyak—better known online as Stas Reeflay—was a 30 year old Russian YouTuber associated with the so-called “trash-vlogging” scene. This term refers to a controversial corner of livestreaming culture where creators perform increasingly extreme or degrading acts at the urging of viewers, often in exchange for donations.

For some of the most committed streamers in this space, the pursuit of attention and financial reward can blur ethical boundaries—where, for the right price, almost nothing is considered off-limits.

YouTuber: Stas Reefley

In recent years, this fringe livestreaming subculture has been linked to deeply disturbing incidents involving so-called “willing” participants—individuals subjected to acts of humiliation, violence, and coercion at the urging of paying viewers. Reports have included people being physically assaulted or pressured into degrading behavior, with the line between consent and exploitation often blurred or entirely absent. In 2021, one widely reported case even involved a British woman being sexually assaulted during a live broadcast.

Because of the nature of this content—where real harm can occur for entertainment—these streams are sometimes compared to the darkest corners of exploitative media, attracting audiences drawn to shock and suffering.

Among the most notorious cases tied to this phenomenon is one from December 2020, involving Stas Reeflay’s own girlfriend, 28 year old Valentina Grigoryeva, which brought international attention to the dangers of this online culture.

Stas and his girlfriend, Valentina

Valentina frequently appeared in many of Stas Reeflay’s livestreams, where she was often the focus of his on-camera abuse. In several broadcasts, viewers reportedly paid to dictate what would happen to her—leading to incidents where she was pepper-sprayed or humiliated, such as having a plate of food she had prepared smashed over her head.

As donations continued to roll in, the couple appeared to normalise this dynamic, continuing to cater to increasingly extreme viewer demands. Over time, what may once have seemed shocking became routine. For Valentina, this environment seemed to blur the boundaries between performance and reality—convincing herself that it was part of their work, a means of making a living, rather than the harm it clearly inflicted.

Valentina had begun as a willing participant of the streams

Over time, the abuse Valentina endured escalated far beyond anything she may have initially expected. By late 2020, she had become pregnant by Stas, yet this did little to curb the increasingly extreme demands of his livestreams. On one evening in December, he reportedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend after a viewer offered a $1,000 (£800) donation—the largest he had received from a single person.

During the incident, the violence was accompanied by verbal degradation, as he insulted and humiliated her while continuing the stream. What had once been framed as performative shock content had, by this point, crossed fully into sustained and dangerous abuse.

Eager to impress the donor, Stas escalated the situation further—stripping his girlfriend down to her underwear before, at the urging of viewers, forcing her out onto the balcony and locking the door behind her. It was the middle of a harsh Moscow winter; even brief exposure to such sub-zero temperatures would have been dangerous, let alone for someone left nearly unclothed.

For the next fifteen minutes, Valentina could be heard in the background of the livestream, banging on the door and pleading to be let back inside. Despite her distress—and as donations continued to come in—Stas ignored her, prioritising the demands of his audience over her safety.

Stas remained unphased during the livestream

When the desperate banging finally fell silent, it was only then that Stas seemed to take notice. He went to let Valentina back inside—but by that point, it was already too late. She had succumbed to the freezing conditions.

With the livestream still running, he dragged her unresponsive body back into the apartment and laid her on the sofa. As the camera continued to capture everything, he began shouting in panic and disbelief, the gravity of what had happened starting to set in.

With his mind still only on his audience, Stas placed his hands on Valentina's neck to feel for a pulse before stating:

Valentina was deceased

As the reality of the situation set in, panic began to take hold. Stas made a frantic, ultimately futile attempt to revive Valentina before moving back in front of the camera to call for an ambulance, her motionless body still visible behind him.

Even then, the livestream continued—viewers kept sending donations and urging him not to switch off the feed, and he complied, keeping the broadcast running as events unfolded.

As he waited for paramedics to arrive, Stas continued interacting with viewers, even assuring them the stream would go on. When emergency responders finally reached the apartment, they attempted to revive Valentina, but their efforts were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Realising the incident was being broadcast live, they reportedly ordered Stas to shut the stream down—bringing the disturbing broadcast to an end.

A later autopsy revealed the extent of the violence she had endured. Valentina had suffered a traumatic brain injury and a cerebral haemorrhage, along with multiple bruises consistent with sustained physical assault. Although she had been exposed to freezing temperatures, hypothermia was not listed as the primary cause of death; rather, it had accelerated an already fatal condition caused by severe head trauma.

Valentina was the main target of the channel

An investigation into the young woman’s death began almost immediately, and Stas later admitted to police that he had violently assaulted his girlfriend. He was taken into custody, with legal proceedings commencing in early 2021.

During the trial, his defence team sought to mitigate the severity of his sentence, including disputing claims that Valentina had been pregnant at the time of her death. However, this argument was undermined by earlier livestream footage in which the couple themselves appeared to acknowledge and display her pregnancy, raising further questions about the extent of the abuse she had endured.

Stanislav Reshetnikov was ultimately found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to six years in prison. He reportedly broke down in tears as he was led away to begin his sentence—a moment that, to many observers, underscored the stark contrast between his visible remorse in court and the sustained abuse that had played out on camera.

The case drew widespread public outrage and became a catalyst for change. In its aftermath, Russian lawmakers moved to address the dangers of “trash-streaming,” proposing stricter regulations and clearer legal consequences for those who profit from harmful or abusive livestream content, including the possibility of custodial sentences for offenders.
