About this challenge
We may all be stuck in place right now, but we can still take a digital dream vacation! Use the Unsplash featured image option to find a postcard-worthy photo of the destination you’ve been dreaming of while sheltering in place. Describe the vacation you’d love to take—what you’d eat, what you’d do, who you’d travel with, and why this particular destination is where you’re itching to go.
How to enter
For your story to be eligible, it must be between 600 and 5,000 words and adhere to our Community Guidelines. Stories published on Vocal and entered into the contest up until May 7, 2020 at 11:59 PM EST will be entered for consideration.
For the Virtual Postcard Challenge, entries must use the Unsplash image feature for the main image in your story, at minimum (we encourage you to use Unsplash images throughout your story, too!). Entries that do not include an image using the Unsplash embed feature will not be eligible to win.
To be eligible to win the grand prize, second place, or third place prizes, you must be over the age of 13 and residing in a country where Stripe is available at the time of entry. A complete list of countries where Stripe is available can be found here—winners will need to have a Stripe account created and connected in order to receive the prizes. For this reason, entrants located outside of any of these 35 countries will not be eligible to win.

Something Is Beginning, I Think Challenge Winners
This challenge wasn’t about clean starts. It was about that weird in-between where something is beginning, but no one really knows what yet. A lot of these stories leaned into hesitation, into pauses and false starts and that feeling that something is about to happen but hasn’t quite.
